Alcatel-Lucent get the LTE contract of AT&T

Dear LTE colleagues,

You will all have seen the exciting news today announcing our selection as one of two suppliers to build out AT&T’s next generation LTE network.  This is a key step for Alcatel-Lucent, showcasing our customers’ acknowledgement of our leadership in LTE technology, the best of breed capabilities of our portfolio and our ability to deliver a smooth end-to-end migration path to LTE. It is also a tribute to our close work across the teams to build an aggressive strategy for embracing 2G/3G and 4G.

With this win we have reinforced our wireless strategy and clearly established Alcatel-Lucent as leaders in the LTE market and we want to thank you all for your critical work in making this happen!  Our “Project 7” wireless strategy intends to leverage this LTE momentum to build 2G and 3G relationships in order to win in the market. This win exemplifies how to work closely with customers as they evolve their networks to 4G while penetrating further via 3G, ensuring the best quality of service for both new and existing end-users. As part of our selection and through key elements of our Converged RAN portfolio, we will easily and seamlessly evolve the 3G equipment delivered to AT&T, as it deploys a next-generation mobile broadband LTE solution. Providing the 9900 Wireless Network Guardian, Alcatel-Lucent also enables our customer to better manage the traffic on their 3G and 4G wireless IP networks.

With today’s news we can take a look back to see how far we have progressed, with the customer and with our solution.  We all should take a moment to celebrate this progress. Moving forward, delivering on our portfolio & solutions commitments and delighting AT&T remain our crucial imperatives for success, as well of course, as delivering on all our LTE customer trial commitments.  It is imperative that, together, we keep this momentum going with focus and dedication over the coming months.
